Shilpy Saxena, the Managing Director of Garuda Advertising and a close friend of Jaspal Rana & his wife Reena, hosted a party in Hotel Taj Mansingh on 10 February 2007 to honour the ace shooter. Jaspal equaled world record in Centre Fire category and won 3 golds in recently concluded Asian Games, Doha.

Shilpy Saxena besides being a communication tycoon has been associated with a number of sports initiatives and organizations in the country. She is the chairperson of Women Empowerment Committee of Jharkhand Olympic Association. She also serves as the chairperson of Media Committee in 34th National Games, Ranchi.

Shilpy said, “Both Jaspal and his wife Reena are my close friends. And I congratulate Jaspal for doing India proud inspite of all odds. At the same time, I don’t see him only as a sportsperson. He is an ideal brand ambassador for many brands. It’s about time corporates look for brand ambassadors beyond cricket.”

Shilpy hosted this party to celebrate Jaspal’s recent success in Asian Games and to wish him luck for Olympic and a bright career in politics. Jaspal has joined BJP to start his political career.

The who’s who of Indians sports, corporate world, leaders across the political parties, media persons, PR heads attended the party and graced the evening. Vijay Goel & Priti Goel, Ex Union Minister for Sports, Pankaj & Sushma Singh (Son & daughter-in-law of Rajnath Singh), RK Anand, Chetan Anand, Pramod Aggarwal, Chairman, IMS Ghaziabad, Nafisa Ali, Jatin Kochar, Abhigyan Prakash of NDTV, Umesh Upadhyaya, Sudhir Chaudhury of India TV, pop singer Shankar Sawhney and Anamika, Aslam Khan (VP-Indian Olympic Association), Vinita (W/o Raja Randhir Singh, Gen Secretary of Indian Olympic Association), C. K. Khanna, Vice President of DDCA etc attended the party. More sportsperson could not turn up because of their preoccupations for National Games being held in Guwahati.

The resplendent evening was made more vibrant with lilting melodies played on piano by popular pianist Gurbani Bhatia.
